WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
Hypnosis is a state of mind, enhanced by physical and mental relaxation, in which our subconscious mind is able to communicate with our conscious mind. It alters our state of consciousness in such a way that the analytical left side brain is sleeping, while the imaginative right side is made more aware. Since the subconscious mind is a deeper-seated, more instinctive force than the conscious mind, this is the part that has to change for the client’s behavior and physical state to alter.
WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?
Hypnotherapy is a talking therapy that can bring about positive changes and promotes self-development through hypnosis. Hypnotherapy is a safe and non-invasive practice that attempts to address the client’s subconscious mind. The client will be guided to a state where their body is very relaxed and their mind is alert. Once the client’s own imagination is engaged, the therapist can help bring about positive change in thoughts, feelings and behaviors using suggestions, story telling, metaphors and various other approaches.
COMMON CONCERNS AND AIMS
Sometimes people feel as though they will lose control, however, the client is fully aware, awake and conscious of their surroundings all the time. Hence they are not left with feeling vulnerable. Hypnotherapy aims to reprogram and alter patterns that are hindering you, eliminate old belief systems and behaviours that do not serve their purpose, aiding in emotional trauma, by allowing the hypnotherapist to present suggestions directly to your subconscious mind. Ultimately, the aim is to bring you more understanding and clarity in your life, promotes self-development hence unlocking inner potential.

WHAT TO EXPECT
At the initial consultation the therapist will take a full case history, as well as explain the depths of hypnosis and the therapy. The first appointment will usually last about 120 minutes. Both the client and therapist will understand exactly what the problem is and how it may be addressed. There is a possibility to ask questions at any time. There will be a gentle induction into a hypnotic state for the client to experience, as well as a suggestion being presented to the subconscious mind.
Once the session is over there will be a discussion and debrief. This may be the time to assess how many sessions may be required.
Any following sessions are scheduled for 60 minutes with a 2-week integration period between each session. The client will be taught self-hypnosis and various other techniques to assist them during the healing.
